Move IPC to end customer network
After final validation of a cell, the cell must be deployed to the customer's environment to begin delivering value.
Often, this step includes changes to the internet connectivity of the cell. For this step, we need to use the local management interface instead of the IPC Manager in the portal.
Connect to the local interface
The local configuration interface is accessible by a local browser connection. First connect your computer to a network that can directly reach the IPC.
It's recommended to use a different network interface than the one being configured.
You can generally use the interface that's used for robot control, or one that is used for connected peripherals like cameras.
For this example, we use the interface otherwise used to control the robot.
Open https://192.170.10.122:2461/web/config/network if you've been following
our setup guide. Otherwise use the find IP Address guide.
Use the "Advanced" button on the certificate dialog to get the option to ignore it. Then ignore it. This is a local server so it is expected to fail certificate validation.
Configure a static IP Address
After connecting to the cell's interface, a dialog appears that lets you configure the interface’s IP address. This is required when customer IT requires a static IP address that cannot be distributed over DHCP.
First untick Use DHCP (IPv4), then add the IP address in the appropriate field.
Press Submit to send the interface configuration to the IPC.
The IPC will immediately apply the configuration.
Configure the proxy
To configure the proxy, navigate to https://192.170.10.122:2461/web/config/proxy.
Fill in your proxy configuration and press Submit. A reboot is required for this setting to take effect.
Configure NTP
To configure NTP, navigate to https://192.170.10.122:2461/web/config/ntp.
Fill in your NTP server details and press Submit.
This setting also requires a reboot for the changes to take effect.
Reboot
Use the local interface (keyboard + screen) to trigger a reboot.
You are done
Congratulations. If you've done everything right, the IPC will now use the proxy to reach the internet.
